internal departments need to know the PLAN. Planning ahead will get your mailpiece or package there in a timely manner and at
the lowest cost. Planning ahead will help you avoid errors caused by
rushing things through the system. Planning is the most important &
essential piece to the puzzle as it relates to the final result of your
customer satisfaction and business growth.
Be Cost Conscious
Compare
pricing on the Internet. Before deciding on your shipping courier, make
sure of the service that is needed for timely delivery. If you've planned
ahead there will be no reason to use the expensive methods.
Address
Properly
Use the 4 basic rules of addressing. HINT: Remember that the
Postal Service includes FREE Delivery Confirmation if you design your
Priority shipping label on line. See: Shipping Labels - labels
with or without postage.
Packaging
Use
strong packaging tape - definitely no string but wrapping paper can be
used. Hint: Always include a second address label inside the package -
this is a good shipping practice to help protect your delivery in case of
damage or loss.
Overnight
Delivery
Just say "no" to overnight
delivery unless absolutely necessary.
Don't let it become a costly habit. Know your delivery and pick up
times. Check with the mail center for service times. It could mean an extra
day. HINT: Most overnight
deliveries can be avoided if you just call the recipient and let them know
